Dr. Raymond Chae

Veterinarian and Owner

Dr. Chae’s love of animals started young, when he would watch animal shows with his father when he was a child. During his childhood, he had myriad of animals as pets, including dogs, cats, birds, and turtles. This interest guided and shaped his schooling, and ultimately, his career path. He was raised and attended elementary, Jr. high, and high school in Southern California. He, then, chose to venture out of Southern California and attend the University of California, Davis for his undergraduate in Microbiology.

For his veterinary education, Dr. Chae chose to further expand his horizons and attend Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia. This, not only allowed him to fulfill his goal of becoming a veterinarian, but also travel and experience other cultures. Since his return from veterinary school in 2008, he has been practicing small animal general practice medicine in Southern California. In 2013, when he was searching for a location to open his own practice in Redlands, CA, he realized the lack of choices in small animal emergency care facilities in Redlands and its surround communities. After consulting with local veterinarians and receiving positive feedbacks from pet owners in Redlands community regarding his interest in establishing a small animal emergency hospital, Dr. Chae opened the Emergency Pet Hospital of Redlands in September of 2014. He continued to serve the city of Redlands and the surrounding community until 2018 when he sold his practice.

Since then, he mainly aided other local veterinary hospitals that required additional doctors to substitute and cover the vacancies. In 2020, he missed the relationships he built with a stable set of clients and patients, therefore, he opted to open a general practice in the city of Claremont. He hopes that his years of experience, including his time practicing emergency medicine, and his trained members of Peppertree Animal Hospital will become an integral part of Claremont and the surrounding neighborhood. He also hopes that he can forge lasting friendships with his clients and his patients. He actively attends continuing education seminars and conference throughout the year.

Dr. Chae and his wife have one 9 year old daughter and one 5 year old son. He enjoys spending his time with his family, swimming, snowboarding, and watching lots of movies. He currently doesn’t have any pets, but can’t wait until his kids are old enough to provide them with one to teach them to be an animal lover like himself, and the responsibility of raising a pet.
